Here's the Amtrak RFQ issued on March 3, 2010 seeking a company to install WiFi in all of Amtrak's trains. Good, Amtrak wants WiFi on all their trains, I applaud this.

About This BlogI was a regular Amtrak commuter between Philadelphia (30th Street Station) and New York City (Penn Station). I created this blog to track on time performance between stops and to post topics of interest to the Philly-NYC commuter. Since my situation has changed the blog topics have changed as well but I'll share my thoughts about Amtrak, general comments on commuting to NYC, financially making such a commute work, as well as Philly-NYC commuting alternatives.

It will be interesting to see how long the rollout takes. The Acela wifi has come up in speed quite a bit in the last 3 weeks, which is a good sign. I assume that once the bigs are worked out, it'll stop being free. I assume a train full of people uses a lot of bandwidth, so I can see how that would be a lot of new cost to bear. It'll sure be a nice addition during delays.
