Train Speed on the NEC - comments from the Quod Ero Spero Blog
The Quod Ero Spero Blog has a couple posts about higher speed trains along the NEC, wanted to put the links here:

Thank you for the pointer and links. Obviously, I would like to see better, faster, cheaper trains available here in the Northeast, but I think people need to have a better sense of what they are really demanding/asking for.
As for quod ero spero, I suspect you are right but you can see a range of translations here.
I very much enjoy following your posts here. Between '95 and '97, I was the primary rep on the NEC for commuter relations. That was the era when Amtrak first started to make life hard for commuters, so it was an awkward time to have that beat. Management at the time shifted from seeing the commuters as a source of political support and cash for empty seats to an underpaying group taking capacity away from higher revenue riders, which is essentially how they are still scene. The only thing that's changed is how much more they are asked to pay now. It frustrates me to have this shift occur, but those decisions are made at higher pay grades then mine.
